Work Package 02: Definition of the Fast Reactor system

This work package should define the fast reactor system(s) to be used in the analysis. Two types of fast reactors need to be considered:

  • For the single stratum with heterogeneous option
  • A dedicated burner for the double stratum with heterogeneous option

The amount of minor actinides to be loaded will be mainly determined by the well-known degradation of some safety parameters (Doppler constant, void coefficient, control rod worth, delayed neutron fraction,…). In this Work Package, the partners will decide on limiting values for the safety parameters under investigation and will adapt the fast reactor system accordingly. This will allow for a set of design windows for the fast reactor system leading to different burning capabilities. So finally, this Work Package will estimate the maximal amount of minor actinides that can be transmuted per year in this fast reactor system.
